As the winter months settle in, it's not uncommon for many teens to feel a bit down or sluggish. The colder weather, shorter days, and lack of sunlight can take a toll on our mood and energy levels. But fear not! With the right strategies and mindset, you can overcome the winter blues and keep your spirits high. Here are some effective tips to help you navigate through the chilly season with a smile on your face.

Get Moving:

One of the best ways to beat the winter blues is to get your body moving. Exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Whether it's hitting the gym, going for a run, or dancing around your room, find an activity that you enjoy and make it a regular part of your routine. Not only will it boost your mood, but it will also keep you physically fit and healthy.

Soak Up Some Sun:

Although the days may be shorter during winter, it's still important to soak up as much sunlight as possible. Sunlight exposure helps regulate your body's internal clock and boosts the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that promotes feelings of happiness and well-being. Try to spend some time outdoors during daylight hours, even if it's just for a short walk around the neighborhood or sitting by a sunny window.

Stay Connected:

The winter months can sometimes make us feel isolated or lonely, especially if we're spending more time indoors. Combat this by staying connected with friends and family. Arrange virtual hangouts, phone calls, or outdoor activities like ice skating or sledding. One of my favorite things is to simply get on a FaceTime call with my besties when I'm stuck at home! Surrounding yourself with loved ones and maintaining social connections can provide much-needed support and companionship during the winter months.

Practice Self-Care:

Taking care of yourself is essential for maintaining good mental health, especially during the winter. Make self-care a priority by incorporating activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Whether it's practicing mindfulness, indulging in a relaxing bath, or spending time on your hobbies and interests, carve out moments in your day to do things that make you feel happy and fulfilled. (Ideas: Give yourself a makeover. Make a homemade nourishing mask. Bake something. Meditate. Build a fun playlist to listen to!)

Set Goals and Stay Productive:

Setting goals gives you something to work towards and helps you stay motivated, even when the winter blues try to bring you down. Whether it's academic goals, personal projects, or new skills you want to learn, having a sense of purpose and direction can give you a positive outlook on the season ahead. Break your goals down into manageable steps and celebrate your progress along the way. (Try downloading an app or using a planner to help you keep track!)

Winter may bring its share of challenges, but with the right mindset and strategies, you can overcome the blues and make the most of the season. By staying active, seeking sunlight, nurturing your relationships, practicing self-care, and setting goals, you can keep your spirits high and embrace the beauty and coziness that winter has to offer. Remember, spring is just around the corner, but in the meantime, let's make the most of the winter wonderland!

Are you a fashion-conscious teenager gearing up for a trip to a sunny paradise? Traveling to a warm destination can be an exciting adventure, but figuring out what to wear to the airport can sometimes be a challenge. Don't worry! In this blog post, I'll guide you through some stylish and comfortable outfit ideas that will make you look and feel fabulous during your journey.

Comfortable and Trendy Shoes:

When it comes to footwear, comfort is key for long hours of walking and standing at the airport. Opt for sneakers or slip-on shoes that are not only stylish but also provide ample support. White sneakers are versatile and can easily be paired with various outfits. If you prefer something more trendy, consider wearing platform sandals or espadrilles to add a touch of chicness to your look. Don't forget you might have to remove your shoes at security, so I prefer tennis shoes with socks to avoid the yucky floors!

Easy-Breezy Clothing:

Choose breathable fabrics and loose-fitting clothing to keep you cool during your journey. Lightweight and flowy materials such as cotton, linen, or chambray are ideal for warm climates. Maxi dresses, rompers, or jumpsuits are excellent choices as they offer both comfort and style. Pair them with a cute belt or statement accessory to elevate your ensemble. If you opt for a romper of jumpsuit, just remember you might have to remove the entire thing in a cramped bathroom so this might not be the best choice! I love this skirt pictured from Aerie for comfort and practicality.

Layering Essentials:

Although you're traveling to a warm destination, it's essential to be prepared for varying temperatures. Airplanes can get chilly, so it's a good idea to bring a light jacket or cardigan that can be easily layered or tied around your waist when not needed. Denim jackets or lightweight bombers are versatile options that can effortlessly complete your outfit. Or you can always bring a hoodie which is also my go to.

Stylish Accessories:

Accessories are an excellent way to add a personal touch to your airport ensemble. Consider wearing a wide-brimmed hat to protect yourself from the sun and add a trendy flair. Don't forget to bring a pair of sunglasses to shield your eyes and complete your chic look. A stylish backpack or tote bag will not only hold your essentials but also serve as a fashionable accessory.

Versatile Bottoms:

When it comes to bottoms, opt for versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched with various tops. Denim shorts or skirts are classic choices that can be styled with different blouses or crop tops. If you prefer something more relaxed, flowy wide-leg pants or culottes are fashionable and comfortable options. Choose bottoms that allow you to move freely and enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

Minimalistic Jewelry:

Keep your jewelry minimalistic yet impactful. Delicate necklaces, layered bracelets, or simple hoop earrings can add a touch of elegance to your outfit without weighing you down. Avoid wearing valuable or overly elaborate pieces to minimize the risk of misplacing them during your travels. Also keep in mind, the more you wear, the more you may have to remove at security depending on where you're at!

Traveling to a warm destination as a teenager should be both exciting and fashionable. By selecting comfortable yet stylish outfits, you can rock the airport look while feeling confident during your journey. Remember to choose breathable fabrics, pack versatile pieces, and accessorize with flair. With the right wardrobe choices, you'll be ready to embrace the sun and create unforgettable memories in style!

Summer is right around the corner, and that means it's time to hit the pool or head to the beach for some fun in the sun! As a young teen girl, it's essential to find a swimwear style that is both fashionable and age-appropriate. And if you've been in just about any trendy store, you'll find the cheeky bottoms and skimpy tops that just aren't right for everyone nor are they appropriate for young teens! In this blog post, I'll guide you on where and how to find the perfect swimwear that suits your age, style, and comfort.

1. Specialty Swimwear Stores:

One of the best places to start your search for age-appropriate swimwear is at specialty swimwear stores. These stores often carry a wide range of styles and sizes specifically designed for different age groups. Look for stores that cater to teenagers or young girls, as they will have swimsuits that are trendy and suitable for your age. These might differ depending on where you live, so two great places that I've had luck specifically are Venus and Everything But Water. Don't get me wrong, you will find a wide variety at both these locations, so be sure to follow my other tips on what to specifically look for.

2. Department Stores:

Department stores are another excellent option for finding age-appropriate swimwear. Many popular brands offer swimwear lines designed specifically for teens, with styles that are both fashionable and modest. Look for swimsuits with higher necklines, fuller coverage bottoms, and supportive features to ensure a comfortable fit. Sometimes even shopping in the kids section you can have better luck sizing into a larger fit (14/16) vs. the Juniors section where the pieces barely cover your parts. Yikes! I have found both Dillards and Nordstrom to have the widest variety in my area, but here's a few others to check out:

3. Online Retailers:

The internet has made shopping for swimwear incredibly convenient, with countless online retailers offering a wide variety of options. When shopping online, read product descriptions carefully and look for swimwear marketed towards young teens. Pay attention to the measurements and sizing guides provided to ensure you choose the right size. Additionally, customer reviews can be helpful in determining the quality and fit of a particular swimsuit. So I'll mention Venus again here as it's been a game changer for me being able to select the bottoms and tops separately and send back what doesn't fit without hassle. In addition, another go-to for me and online shopping...Amazon! Yes-you read that correctly. Amazon has everything and their return policy is so convenient that you can try before you buy or return if you don't like. All of the specialty shops and department stores can also be shopped online if you're more modest and prefer trying on at home. Just be sure to keep the tags attached and the sticker in the bottoms so you can return if needed!

4. Modesty and Coverage:

Modesty and coverage are important considerations when searching for age-appropriate swimwear. Aim for swimsuits that strike a balance between style and comfort while providing adequate coverage. High-neck or halter-style tops, tankinis, and one-piece swimsuits are great choices for young teen girls. These styles offer more coverage than bikinis while still allowing you to express your personal style.

5. Prints and Patterns:

Swimwear is not just about coverage; it's also an opportunity to showcase your unique personality. Look for swimsuits with fun prints, patterns, or colors that reflect your personal style. Floral, tropical, or geometric prints are popular choices that add a youthful and vibrant touch to your swimwear ensemble. With my fair skin, I have to carefully choose colors that don't wash my skin out even more so always consider your skin tone when selecting the color and pattern as well.

6. Accessories:

Completing your swimwear look with accessories can add an extra touch of style. Consider pairing your swimsuit with a stylish cover-up, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a beach tote. These accessories not only enhance your overall look but also provide additional protection from the sun.

Finding age-appropriate swimwear as a young teen girl doesn't have to be a daunting task. By exploring specialty swimwear stores, department stores, and online retailers, you'll have a wide range of options to choose from. Remember to prioritize modesty, coverage, and comfort when selecting your swimsuit. With the right swimwear, you can feel confident, stylish, and ready to make a splash this summer!
